TAKE ACTION
Here's an opportunity to do something that will impact the Penn State community for the better. Join PSU GO GREEN today, and you can make our campus more ecofriendly within hours! YOU alone can make Penn State more sustainable starting today by supporting the campaign's "green" projects, and simply following some of these simple actions!
BUY RECYCLED NOTEBOOKS
When college classes start up, we all scramble to buy those spiral notebooks to take notes on. Instead of buying spiral notebooks and wasting energy, be nice to the environment and use notebooks and planners made of recycled paper. They serve the same purpose, work just as nicely, essentially look the same, and uses 64% less energy to make! You can find recycled notebooks at McLanahan's as well as the Student Book Store downtown!

SUPPORT THE FARMER'S MARKET!
Have you visited the Farmer's Market yet? The Farmer's Market is a great way to purchase fresh organic fruits and vegetables at a low price-not to mention, they are delicious! Organic food production is the most sustainable choice for the future, because it does not require the use of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, which destruct the environment. One of PSU GO Green's projects is to promote the Farmer's Market downtown.

REUSABLE MUGS AT STARBUCKS!?
It is hard to ignore the presence of Starbucks on Penn State’s campus. A quick walk through the Hub can reveal the popularity of buying a caffeine laden concoction served in a cup with your name scribbled on the outside. One thing coffee drinkers should consider is bringing their own reusable cup to Starbucks, which conveniently can be purchased at Starbucks. Although they do offer a modest discount for furnishing your own vessel, the real “saving” is achieved with respect to the environment. In 2011 alone, this initiative accounted for just 2% or sales, but kept 1.5 million pounds of paper out of landfills. With a little effort, you can effectively save trees, reduce energy consumption, reduce waste sent to landfills, -and be served in a cup with your name spelled correctly!

SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE DINNERS ON CAMPUS!

Enjoy a delicious meal and be environmentally friendly at the same time by trying the sustainable dinners offered on campus in Redifer! The local meals are made from fresh, local produce! PSU GO Green is currently planning a project to advocate for sustainable dinners at all dining commons across campus, as well as more sustainable meals throughout the year. We need YOUR help to make this happen!
USE REUSABLE WATER BOTTLES ON CAMPUS
Why waste money and energy buying packs of plastic water bottles, when you can just use a environmentally friendly reusable water bottle? Using reusuable water bottles saves precious energy and reduces the use of fossil fuels! You can find reusuable water bottles at many convienient stores downtown for a cheap price!

UNPLUG YOUR ELECTRONICS!

This is pretty self-explanatory, but a single action such as unplugging your electronics can make a tremendous difference on campus! Keep in mind, you can cut your energy consumption by 10%, by simply unplugging your electronic devices when you’re not using them! Whether it is a laptop or phone charger, fan, blender, or other electrical device, help improve our campus by remembering to unplug!
